At The Model CoOp, we aim to celebrate the lives and careers of incredible women. Those who are pioneers, change-makers, and who bring a unique point of view to the fashion and beauty landscapes. Our first post for the new decade will survey some of our favourite female fashion photographers working today.

Ellen von Unwerth

Corsets, stockings and voluminous hair, all of her women are larger than life. Ellen von Unwerth has grown to be a key image-maker known for her ultra-feminine, provocative editorial work and campaigns. Her women are sexy and self-assured. Pamela Hanson

Known for her intimate and irreverent portraits that capture her subjects’ personalities and fleeting moments, Pamela Hansen continues to be sought by editorial and advertising clients for this trademark style. Camilla Akrans style is instantly recognizable. Her images combine a graphic Scandanavian quality with a very delicate and ethereal aesthetic. Cass Bird's photography invites us to see the gritty imperfection of modern love and life. Her editorial shoots and campaigns are the anti-thesis of formally staged fashion photography that we are used to, and this realism brings an intimacy and energy to her truly unique work. For more: cassbird

Olivia Malone

Olivia Malone's photography always conveys an aspect of the raw documentary coupled with a soft and intimate quality. According to Malone, she "chases after newfound combinations of light and texture to reflect the beauty of [her] subjects through the particularity of their environments".
